During the years 2020-2021, I was at work on a follow up to NOT ALL OF MY TORMENTS CAN YOUR PITY MOVE. However, due to software and hardware issues (read: my computer crashed) I imagined it was lost forever. During the time I spent sorting and compiling the reissue of TORMENTS, I came across a strange folder. In it, the album you see was in it. The original data files and sessions for all these songs were corrupted, but I would like to think that was the universe’s way of driving home the importance of realizing some things are finished even if you don’t think they are. With that, I present the final (and recovered) record from Soft Ceremony - FRAGRANT WOUND OF NATIONS. There’s a few surprises in here, too. The live intro I used in 2022 with the samples of Aileen Wuornos appears on this disc, and it ends with UNDERNEATH, the noticeably absent track from the TORMENTS reissue, simply because it felt more like a foreboding ending than an entry. Also, my personal all time favorite SC track, “Ashes of California”, exists here. I always saved it for when I could finish this - and it is, I suppose - so it’s with the fans now.
Thank you to anyone who bought shirts, CDs, digital albums, came to shows, liked an Instagram or Facebook post or just genuinely supported me, approved and cheered me on. This is for you. Thank You.
